The tooth of wisdom in dentistry is called the "eight" or "third molar." The period of eruption is usually 17-25 years.

Indications for the removal of the wisdom tooth are also:
- Incorrect tooth position. For example, a wisdom tooth can lie with a slope or horizontally. Such a tooth does not represent any value for prosthetics, so it can be removed. · Lack of space for eruption. If, in this case, the wisdom tooth is not removed, then the dentition may shift, which is highly undesirable.
- · Development of pericornitis (inflammation of the hood). The incised tooth of wisdom takes such a position that part of its crown is covered with a mucous membrane - a hood. Between the tooth and the hood a space is formed, into which pathogenic microorganisms can enter, contributing to the development of the inflammatory process. Cysts in the area of the wisdom tooth - the tooth that causes the cyst and is associated with it, is removed, the cyst shell is scraped and sent for pathohistological examination.
